All praise is due to Allah, the Most Merciful, and may endless peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. By the grace of Allah and the barakah of the du‘a of our Prophet ﷺ, what you are about to read is a humble introduction to our institution — Jamia Al Hidhaya Arabic College.
Across the world, Islamic Madrasahs and Arabic colleges were established with the sole purpose of preserving and spreading the true message of Islam. The legacy of Arabic colleges spans over 1,500 years, beginning with the blessed Suffah of Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah and extending to thousands of such institutions today, serving as luminous beacons of sacred knowledge around the globe.
In essence, Arabic colleges are like the defense camps of Islamic creed, standing strong against challenges and deviations. In Tamil Nadu alone, there are hundreds of Arabic institutions, yet only around 100 of them offer a comprehensive seven-year Alim course, preparing students to become erudite Islamic scholars. Among these, Jamia Al Hidhaya, located along the Chennai East Coast Road (ECR), holds a distinct position.
Traditionally, Arabic colleges focused solely on Shari‘ah sciences. But in response to changing times, many institutions have now integrated both Islamic and secular education into their curriculums. In line with this modern approach, Jamia Al Hidhaya offers a dual educational system — combining classical Islamic learning with contemporary academic studies.
Alhamdulillah, over the years, nearly 150 students have graduated from our Jamia, earning both the esteemed title of Maulavi Alim and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree. These alumni now serve in various parts of the nation and abroad, carrying the light of Deen and knowledge wherever they go.
Our dedicated team of 14 experienced professors offers guidance across both religious and worldly disciplines. Students are trained to speak and write in Arabic, Tamil, English, and Urdu, ensuring they are effective communicators in multiple languages. Key Islamic sciences such as Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, and Aqeedah are taught with depth and precision.

Weekly oratory training through Manba‘ al-Hidaya Forum
Multilingual writing skills through Al-Hidhaya journals
Modern Arabic sessions
Computer and technology usage
Afzal-ul-Ulama certificate program (through University of Madras)
Our mission is to raise a generation of Ulama who are not only rooted in Islamic tradition but are also equipped to navigate and respond to the ever-evolving challenges of the modern era with wisdom and excellence.
In a time where education has become commercialized, we are humbled to say that our institution continues to provide Islamic and secular education, along with food and accommodation — all completely free of cost, with the help of Allah and the generosity of well-wishers and donors.
Currently, the college functions from a rented building in Kanathur, East Coast Road, Chennai, and our dream is to relocate to a spacious, permanent campus in the near future. With your du‘a, support, and donations, this noble vision can be realized.

Jamia Al Hidhaya Arabic College blends traditional Islamic learning with modern academics. Through a 7-year Silsilah Nizamiya-based program, students earn an Aalim degree and a B.Com from Madras University.
